Ana explains what one should look for when selecting a property manager to manage their property, from respect of the property, experienced and dedicated team to keeping up to date with legislation.
It’s an important decision and one that the Hauss Rentals team is happy to chat through with you.
“I think one of the most important things when you’re looking for a property manager or an agency is what I call respect for your property.
So that comes in all sorts of different forms. The first one to me is having an Experienced agents to manage your property. Many agencies treat Property Management as an entry-level or training position, but really what you’re looking for when you have a portfolio of properties or an investment property is somebody who has experience. So at Hauss we have a couple of property managers and they all either own their own property or have investment properties of their own. From an owner’s point of view that means that when they’re talking to them they understand the issues that they have and their concerns, and can relate to their needs.
One of the other things that I think it’s really important when selecting an agency is consistency of staff. So you need to know when you pick up the phone, when you have an issue, when you send an email, that that person will be the same person who understands your property, who has been there and conducted routine inspections, so they know exactly what you’re talking about.
An important consideration is a property manager who is up-to-date with current changes and legislation. Recently, with the current market, there have been many changes, and as an owner, you need to feel confident that your property manager can deal with those and guide you through any questions that you may have.
I think a very important consideration is not only the day-to-day management of your property, but also working with a property manager who you feel can increase the value of your property now and into the future.”
